Home Health Aide (HHA) Job Description
Function: As a caregiver, you provide non-medical services that allow individuals to remain as independent as possible in the home they are currently in.
As a caregiver, each client possesses a different skill set. Not all caregivers are able to complete tasks requested from every client. Below are different criteria for the levels of care provided for our clients.
Schedules: Caregiver opportunities are available for a variety of shifts for days, evenings and overnights depending on each individual client’s needs.
Primary responsibilities of companionship/transportation services include the following:
• Providing companionship and conversation
• Transportation to doctor visits, errands or social outings
• Care for houseplants/pets
• Go for a walk
• Organize and clean closets, check food expirations, clean cupboards
• Meal preparation, clean up of kitchen, wash dishes, take out garbage
• Laundry/ironing/changing of linens and making bed
• Providing stabilization, assistance with walking and transferring
• Preparing meals and cleaning up the kitchen after
• Medication reminders
• Performing light housekeeping tasks such as dusting, vacuuming, taking out the trash, cleaning bathrooms, kitchens, etc
• Basic grooming and hygiene
• Pet care
Personal Care responsibilities/services include:
• Showering, bathing
• Dressing
• Shaving
• Toileting Assistance and management of depends/pads
Overnight Care responsibilities/services include:
• Monitoring client thru the night
• Assisting client with any before mentioned tasks
• Assisting the client in and out of bed
Other responsibilities not specifically mentioned above which all caregivers are responsible for:
• Ability to drive with a valid driver’s license
• Treat client’s home/property with respect and care
• Provide a positive living environment to enhance client’s quality of life
• Completing other duties as assigned
• Communicate with client in a kind, professional, compassionate manor
• Communicate with the office on a regular basis
• Report hours to the office as requested
• Complete care notes for client prior to end of each shift and report any significant changes in the client to the office
