Home Care Aide (HCA) Job Description
Job Description - Caregiver Minimum Qualifications 1. Be eighteen years of age or older. 2. They must be in good health, and both physically and mentally capable of performing the duties which they perform on the job. Good physical health and freedom from infectious diseases including tuberculosis will be verified by a health screening, including a chest x-ray or an intradermal test, performed by a physician not more than six months prior to or seven days after employment or licensure. A written report will be made of each screening, signed by the examining physician. This report will indicate whether the person is physically qualified to perform their job duties and whether they have any health condition that would create a hazard to him/herself, other staff members or residents. 3. They must be able to read, write and understand English and have a general understanding of the needs of the elderly and have a willingness to learn. 4. Prior to beginning their employment, they will present to the Administrator proof of successful completion of an approved Adult First Aid and CPR program and maintain a current card throughout their term of employment. 5. They will be criminally cleared through the FBI and DOJ before being present in the facility. 6. Must show a willingness to accept responsibility for the job duties assigned to them. 7. Persons with emotional illness or physical limitations which prevent them from performing the job duties required for outstanding care will not be employed. 8. Have knowledge of community services and resources.
