Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Job Description
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. • Provides residents’/patients' personal hygiene by providing bedpans, urinals, baths, backrubs, shampoos, and shaves; assisting with travel to the bathroom; helping with showers and baths. • Provides for activities of daily living by assisting with serving meals, feeding patients as necessary; ambulating, turning, and positioning/repositioning patients; providing fresh water and nourishment between meals. • Provides additional care within the scope of practice as defined by the Wyoming Board of Nursing. • Maintains patient stability by checking vital signs and weight; obtaining urine and fecal specimens; recording intake and output information. • Provides patient comfort by utilizing resources and materials; transporting patients; answering residents’/patients' call lights and requests; reporting observations of the patient to charge nurse. • Documents actions by completing forms, reports, logs, and records. • Maintains work operations by following policies and procedures. • Protects organization's value by keeping patient information confidential. • Serves and protects Crook County Medical Services District (CCMSD) community by adhering to professional standards, hospital policies and procedures and federal, state, and local requirements. • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; participating in professional organizations; maintaining licensure. • Enhances nursing department and CCMSD’s reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments. • All other duties as assigned by the Charge Nurse and/or Director of Nursing. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES None QUALIFICATIONS Minimum age of sixteen (16) for Long Term Care and twenty-one (21) for Acute Care. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE Licensed CNA in the State of Wyoming. Experience involving the use of clinical information programs preferred. TRAVEL May travel to continuing education workshops and/or fill in at other Departments and Clinics as needed. SKILLS Excellent patient care skills, professional and discrete manner at all times, ability to work as a team player at all times. Possess strong grasp of clinical work flow. Have experience involving the use of clinical information programs. Familiar with standard CNA concepts, practices, and procedures.
