Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Job Description
JOB SUMMARY Reporting to the Director of Assisted Living & Memory Care Services and under the direction of the Licensed Practical Nurse. The Care Partner provides advance caring for our senior adults through direct personal services for residents through our person-centric household model. The Care Partner guides or assists residents with those activities of daily living (ADLs) that they are unable to perform without guidance, always fostering the residents’ independence and freedom of choice. The Care Partner respectfully interacts with all residents, family members, visitors, colleagues, and staff. This is a safety sensitive position. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS • High school diploma or GED required • Certified Nursing Assistant certification; current and in good standing with the Florida Department of Health • Current CPR certification required • One or more years of related experience and/or training in geriatrics in long term care, home health or other health care setting required • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • Computer literacy which includes, but is not limited to, Microsoft Office Suite • Successfully complete Green House Education/training preferred or completed within 90 days of employment • Med Tech Certified or required to complete within 90 days of employment. General • Create, promote, and sustain a positive Elderhood and highest quality of life through integrity, compassion, and self-worth. • Implement daily activities that promote the social, spiritual, physical, emotional, and cognitive wellbeing of the resident. Utilize activity materials provided while encouraging spontaneous activity in the household. • Listen to the wants and needs of residents and deliver/fulfill their wants/desires as appropriate. • Comply with policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements, including but not limited to privacy and security rules, safety, and code of conduct. Food/Dining • Utilizing “safe serve” protocols, properly prepare and cook meals as designated to the households for the residents as instructed by their plan of care and/or by the posted menu. Healthy and nutritious meals will be provided. Follow protocol and properly log/maintain records of refrigeration temperatures, food/supplement labeling/dating, proper storing of food and proper disposal of food. • Loading and unloading dishwasher after meals; following protocol and properly log/maintain records of dishwasher temperatures. • Serve and assist the residents during their meals and provide a positive dining experience. • Maintain and inventory food/supplements daily. Ensure a proper amount of food is adequately stocked for each household. • Monitor and report any sudden changes in eating habits or trends to the nurse. Respect the resident’s wishes when and where they desire to eat. Ensure additional snack/nutritional items are available between meals. Housekeeping • Maintain a healthy sanitary environment by providing light housekeeping duties. Tasks will include but are not limited to cleaning/making of bed, vacuuming, removing trash daily and maintaining neatness of resident’s apartments. • Provide and ensure consistent clean linens and clean clothing by maintaining a washing/drying program for all residents. • Assistance with laundry as needed for all residents. Providing Care • Provide personal care needs to the residents in accordance with each individual plan of care, to include bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, transferring, care of skin, ears, nails, dental and mouth care.
