Personal Care Assistant (PCA) Job Description
Full-time, part-time and per diem available shifts! Personal Care Assistants and Personal Care Assistant Team Leaders The role of the Personal Care Aide is to provide assistance with care to residents residing in the personal care facility. Overall performance is to be in accordance with the policies, procedures and Mission and the Core Values of Fellowship Community. ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS / CREDENTIALS: - Must be able to perform essential functions, duties and responsibilities of this position satisfactorily - Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent - Must have computer skills at an intermediate level - Able to read, write, speak and comprehend English - Knowledge of the special needs and care requirements of geriatric residents - Knowledge of medical terminology - Willing to be flexible to meet the needs of the organization - Works well with others in a positive and cooperative manner - Work performance reflects the essential elements of the organization's core values - Successful completion of Fellowship Community orientation - Meets the requirements of the pre-hire assessment ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES - Assists with the serving of food in the dining room and assists residents as assigned - Attends on-going in-service/ training - Showers, dresses, undresses, toilets residents as scheduled - Answers resident call bells or intercom system to determine resident needs - Transports residents or assists residents to ambulate for the promotion of good mobility - Turns and repositions residents who may be temporarily in bed due to illness and performs ‘Q 15 minute checks’ on those with safety concerns or sensor alarms or Secure Care Bracelets - Changes bed linens, puts laundry away, runs errands and directs visitors as needed - Takes temperature or blood pressure as requested by supervisor - Completes all tasks as outlined in the PCA assignment book. This includes reviewing the treatment book, performing and then initiating the doctor ordered treatments, at the direction of the supervisor or department head - Follows established infection control and OSHA guidelines in accordance with facility's policies and procedures - Ensures that each resident is provided privacy and knocks before entering resident's room Fellowship Community is an EEO employer - M/F/Vets/Disabled
