Home Health Aide (HHA) Job Description
Basic ADLs are self-care activities routinely performed which include, but are not limited to: Personal hygiene, oral care and grooming, including skin and hair care; Assisting with showering and/or bathing; Toileting, which includes getting on/off the toilet and cleaning oneself; Dressing, which includes selecting appropriate attire and putting it on; Undressing; Shaving; Dental care and oral hygiene; Assist with self-feeding; Self-administration of medication and/or use of health maintenance equipment; Transferring, including moving in and out of bed and Mobility in and around the home and range of motion exercises; Homemaker Services Service activities may include planned and routine provision of Housekeeping and home management activities: Cleaning, including vacuuming, sweeping, mopping; cleaning bathroom fixtures; dusting; washing inside windows and cleaning blinds on windows in no climbing is required Laundry, including folding and storing clothing and linens; Ironing and mending clothes and linens’ Washing, drying, and storing dishes and utensils; Bagging and placing garbage in collection containers; Making beds and changing linens (only while the client is out of bed); Shopping for household essentials, including assisting clients with economical purchasing; consistent with their budgets; Assisting client in organizing household routines; Performing necessary reading and writing tasks; if requested and indicated by client’s inability to read and write and for the purposes of assisting with the activities of daily living and Performing essential errands (obtaining food stamps, picking up prescriptions, posting mail, etc) Meal Preparation: Assist in planning meals/menus that are appropriate for the older person’s need Preparing and serving meals and Using sanitary practice for handling, preparing, and storing food Escort Assistance Accompany clients on trips to obtain health care services and other necessary items and services. Client Education is appropriate and beneficial. In-Home Respite Services Instructing clients in ways to become self-sufficient in performing household tasks, when 1. Level 1: Companionship, supervision, light housekeeping, social or leisure activities, or meal preparation (cooking or reheating). Level 2: Assist with activities of daily living including personal care, lifting, transferring, and providing reminders and for assistance with self-administration of medications. Keep abreast of training opportunities. Adhere to InCommunity policies concerning the confidentiality of client information.
