Hudson Valley Hospice is hosting a hiring event for Home Health Aide (HHA) positions. Event details: Date: August 20,2026 Time: 2:00PM-7:00PM Location: 374 Violet Ave, Poughkeepsie NY We are actively seeking compassionate and reliable individuals to become HHAs. - Already certified as an HHA, PCA, or CNA? Come interview with us on the spot. - Not certified? You are still encouraged to attend. We offer free training classes to help you get started. Training Opportunities Available: - PCA to HHA transition course (5 days) - CNA to HHA transition course (2 days) - 13-day intensive training program for those without prior certification Candidates will have the opportunity to take a pre-test and interview during the event. Based on results, we can place you into one of our training programs with the goal of employment. The purpose of a home health aide with What you will do as an HHA: Completes Hospice Aide duties following established plan of care. Provide 24-hour continuous care for patient/families in their home, as needed. Reports all patient condition changes and/or uncontrolled symptoms to primary nurse, on-call nurse, TL or DPS immediately. Maintains adequate records of all patient/family care services, as per policy. Report all cases of abuse/neglect to supervisor, as per policy. Completes required competencies, infection control and ins-services. Assists with orientation of new Hospice Aides as requested by supervisor. Participates in community education activities which promote Hudson Valley Hospice and its philosophy. Notifies Hospice in the event of patient changes and uncontrolled symptoms. Skills we are looking for: Requires flexibility to meet assigned tasks. Can effectively communicate in English, both verbally (in person and by phone) and in writing. Capability to work effectively and cooperatively as a team member. Understanding of hospice philosophy and the care we provide Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks efficiently. Bilingual is a plus! Work Environment: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Travel by car to patient’s home; reliable transportation required. Overtime available; weekend coverage required All shift availability - flexibility to work crisis-care hours when needed. Uniform - Scrubs required - provided by Hudson Valley Hospice. Ability to carry at least twenty-five pounds of equipment and/or supplies. Moderate to high risk of exposure to unsafe environments. Routine duties involve potential for direct exposure to blood or body fluids.
