Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Job Description
The work involves responsibility for the care of residents in accordance with established policies, procedures, and the current accepted standards of nursing practice, necessitating the use of good judgment and skills. This class also assists in the development and application of nursing care principles. Work is performed under the direct supervision of a Nursing Care Supervisor. Supervision may be exercised over Nursing Assistants and Senior Nursing Assistants. Does related work as required. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Either: A) Licensure to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse in New York State; OR B) Completion of a course of study approved by New York State Education Department as qualifying for Licensed Practical Nurse and a limited permit* to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse in New York State. NOTE*: Pursuant to New York State Nursing Education Law, Article 139, Graduates of schools of nursing registered by the department may be employed to practice nursing under supervision of a professional nurse currently registered in this state and with the endorsement of the employing agency for ninety (90) days immediately following graduation from a program in nursing and pending receipt of a limited permit for which an application has been filed. Upon receipt of license, must maintain registration in good standing in order to remain in position. CIVIL SERVICE EXAMINATION IS NOT A REQUIREMENT FOR PERMANENT APPOINTMENT The successful candidate will be subject a Criminal History Record Check. Effective January 1, 2023: $29.2495 per hour (37 ½ hour work week) for FT Shift Differential: 3:00 pm – 11:00 pm $1.00 per hour 11:00 pm – 7:00 am $1.50 per hour Not interested in full time?
