Job description DIRECTOR OF STAFF DEVELOPMENT Redwood Convalescent Hospital, Inc. Castro Valley, CA • Assists with the orientation process through general, licensed, and non-licensed employees. • Monitors and evaluates the training needs of facility employees. • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizational policies. • Assists the Director of Nursing in administrative duties such as nursing staff discipline, nursing staff performance evaluation, performance improvement activities, infection control and risk management monitoring and evaluation. • Provides in-service orientation for all nursing and facility personnel. • Participates in performance improvement activities including QA meetings and infection control activities. • Creates, reviews or revises facility policies and procedures in accordance with state and federal guidelines. • Provides direct nursing care to patients/residents. Administers professional services such as immunization and COVID-19 swab tests for both employees and residents/patients, catheterization, tube feeding, oral suctioning, applying and changing wound dressings/bandages, colostomy and drainage bags, taking vital signs, giving ROM exercises, care for dying patients, and passing medications. • Completes assessments, skilled chartings and progress notes of patients/residents. • Schedule will be 20-24 hours a week, more hours available if you are able to work on the floor.
