Personal Care Assistant (PCA) Job Description
Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated candidates to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will provide essential support to patients, assisting with daily living activities and ensuring their comfort and safety. This role is crucial in delivering high-quality patient care, particularly for individuals with varying health needs, including those with disabilities and dementia. We are hiring on the spot, for full time, part time, day shift, night shifts, overnight and 12 hour shifts.
Duties
Assist patients with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and eating.
Monitor and record vital signs, including temperature, pulse, and blood pressure.
Provide emotional support and companionship to patients, fostering a positive environment.
Help with mobility assistance, including transferring patients in and out of beds or wheelchairs.
Maintain cleanliness and orderliness in patient rooms and common areas.
Follow safety protocols and infection control procedures, including aseptic techniques.
Adhere to HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality and privacy.
Collaborate with nursing staff to implement care plans for patients, including those receiving hospice care.
Skills
Strong knowledge of emergency medicine practices to respond effectively in urgent situations.
Proficient in providing patient care tailored to individual needs, including dementia care and working with people with disabilities.
Understanding of physiology to better assist in patient assessments and care planning.
Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
Ability to work compassionately under pressure while maintaining a calm demeanor in challenging situations.
