Personal Care Assistant (PCA) Job Description
We are hiring for a newly expanded position to work on WEEKEND ROTATION (Sat/Sun). Hours are somewhat flexible but desire 10 AM - 6 PM.
The position would require the candidate to work at the front desk / reception area and perform light cleaning duties through the front of the facility. Greet visitors and be the "go-to" person in a central location for staff, resident or visitor needs from 10am-4pm.
From 4pm-6pm the candidate would perform dietary serving duties for the supper meal service listed below and clean up the dining room after meal service. SEE DIETARY DESCRIPTION BELOW
· Responsible for the cleanliness of dining rooms including removing all dishes after each meal service, replacing table linens, setting tables, and stocking condiments/paper products and dining room accessories and cleaning tables/chairs/floors.
· Provide assistance to the cooking staff in preparation and service of meals, beverages, and snacks.
· Serve plated meals to senior residents understanding that each may have different dietary restriction, preferences, or needs in relation to meals.
· Set up/clean up and maintain food supply of any buffet style, family style or special event food service.
· Wash & store dishes, flatware and all equipment related to serving.
· Stay abreast of dietary restrictions among the 48 residents including allergies and food preferences. Immediately communicate concerns to a clinical care partner or supervisor. Intervene when safety is a top priority.
· Know and communicate the menu and be able to communicate resident needs between the residents and the kitchen team.
· Follow cleaning schedules as defined by management to include cleaning defined common areas of the community. This includes dusting, moping, vacuuming, removing trash and cleaning/disinfecting bathrooms to maintain a high standard of cleanliness throughout the facility.
· In the absence of a kitchen team member, assist with food delivery and shelf stocking.
· Properly use janitorial equipment and supplies.
· Recognize spills, stains, tears or other maintenance issues and bring to the attention of management.
· Get to know each resident and their preferences to make their experience personal and provide customer service BEYOND their expectations.
· Follow defined hygiene and safety codes while performing all duties.
· Understand the community plans for fire/disaster/evacuation & assist care staff with resident needs in the event of an emergency.
· Respect the rights, dignity and privacy of each resident throughout all interactions.
· Respect the property of each resident as well as the facility and take care in handling personal belongings.
· Respond promptly to resident requests and engages appropriate staff person if unable to fulfill resident needs/requests.
· Adhere to The Grove Senior Living Employee Handbook, Employee Code of Conduct & all policy/procedures of the company.
· Perform other department duties or special assignments as directed by management.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES and JOB REQUIREMENTS:
· High school diploma/GED preferred but not required.
· Must be able to communicate effectively (written and oral) with residents, families, and staff.
· Physically able to climb, bend over, kneel, stoop, crawl, push, pull, reach, carry and stand for extended periods of time, move dining room furniture and carry food trays.
· Should be prepared to be on your feet 8-12 hours per day (excluding lunch and breaks).
· Must be customer service oriented, able to multi-task and patient/compassionate towards seniors.
· CPR/First Aid & Choking Prevention/Treatment training (provided through employer).
· Must be able to adhere to a schedule, work independently and pay attention to detail.
· Ability to work collaboratively with a team to achieve a common goal.
· Must attend/complete all required training, in-service, orientation, and staff meetings.
· TB skin test, drug screen and criminal background check required.
