Personal Care Assistant (PCA) Job Description
Key Accountability This position is responsible for the well-being of assisted living residents on services. This includes assisting residents with activities of daily living. Duties & Requirements • Assisting residents with ADL tasks including: housekeeping tasks, making beds, serving meals, assisting with personal laundry, assisting with showers, assisting with toileting, dressing, undressing, oral care, hair care, transfers and ambulation and any other needs addressed on the resident service plan. • Keeping environment safe and clean for all residents. • Observing residents for safety, and report any change of condition or other pertinent information to supervisor. • Carrying and knowing how to use pagers and walkie-talkies. • Respond to emergency signal/call system. • Provides mentor training and shadowing for new Caregivers. • Participate in activity programs designed by Activities Director. This includes leading activities, identifying resident preferences for activities and notifying the Wellness Director, providing verbal prompts or hands on guidance/assistance during activities. • Candidate must be at least eighteen (18) years of age. • Shall have a high school diploma, or equivalent. • Able to read, write, understand and communicate in English. • Possesses clear verbal and written communication skills. • Able to follow written and verbal directions and apply practical problem solving skills if needed. • Positive and energetic attitude. • Professional in appearance and conduct. • Must be criminally cleared. • Be in good health and physically and mentally capable of performing assigned tasks. Good physical health shall be verified by a health screening performed by a physician not more than six (6) months prior to or seven (7) days following employment. Must test free from pulmonary tuberculosis at time of health screening. • Must have dependable transportation and be able to work varying hours as needed
