The Admissions Nurse is an integral member of the interdisciplinary hospice team, specializing in supporting patients and families in the decision to begin hospice care. Admission Nurses are the first contact with patients and families, providing education and guidance on the hospice benefit while using strong clinical skills to evaluate eligibility per the Medicare guidelines. Position requirements: Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of California Valid Driver's License & Proof of Auto Insurance Coverage A minimum of one year of experience as a RN within the last three years, hospice experience preferred Ability to respond to needs of patients/families/caregivers in varied settings and to function effectively in a nursing facility environment Reliable transportation and ability to drive throughout San Diego County Comfortable with computers and mobile technology (cell phone, electronic medical record) Ability to handle multiple priorities, documentation requirements and deadlines Demonstrated skill in nursing practice, ability to cope with family emotional stress and tolerance of individual lifestyles Communicate effectively in English both orally and in writing, sufficient to prepare and send reports, interact with clients, staff and peers (bi-lingual preferred)
