My sister is staying at this nursing center and I am very grateful for the Executive ,Endia Afzal. She is kind, accessible understanding with a very genuine concern for the proper care of the residents at this facility. She gives me hope that my sister will be treated well and kind and she gets the proper care for the greater good for her well being while she is at this facility. I am very grateful for her. And the nurse Michelle that is there sometimes really is professional , kind and respectful to my sister and it would be great if she was the head nurse. - Dianne R.
This place is severely understaffed. 1 nurse to 40 patients- unacceptable. My husband was there thru the VA for a vacation respite for me. His Parkinson’s medicine was given 5 hrs late 4 days in a row & food was cold. The nurse told me “sorry, I’m the only one person”. He was stuck in bed as noone answered the buzzer & when the nurse did come she said she wasn’t strong enough to help him out of bed by herself. His roommate said he fell & layed on the floor for over 2 hrs. We moved him out of there for his own safety.
If I could give this a place a zero rating I would! The nurses and aides do not respond to the call light, and most of the time they spend their time talking up in the front. Only the social worker and PT/OT actually performs their job duties. I would not recommend this place for nobody! Throughout the building there is a strong smell of urine, the rooms are not swept daily, and overall lack of care for the patients.
I moved my uncle to Northwestern Healthcare from another facility and could not be happier. At the other facility they basically fed him, checked vitals and gave him his medications daily...that's it! At Northwestern Healthcare, he is actually getting showered regularly, they do PT and OT (this did not happen at the other facility), and the staff is friendly. Any questions and/or concerns that I or my uncle have they take of. My uncle loves the staff and even has me buy candy regularly so he can give them some when they come to his room. My uncle is thriving and happy which is such a welcome relief from the depressed state he was in at the previous facility. Kara was easy to work with to get my uncle set up to move to Northwestern and Laura as his social worker has been fantastic. My uncle is a Vietnam Veteran and he loves that they have a special room for Veterans to gather to socialize or watch TV together. If you are looking for a warm, welcoming rehab, short or long term care facility, Northwestern is fantastic and I am so happy I found them.
The facility is very nice and clean, the staff are welcoming and knowledgeable and the management team truely care about their residents. Great facility!
