If you care about you loved one, stay away from this place. On multiple occasions we waited for help after using the call button for help. Multiple staff commented about being under staffed. Nurse managers will tell you that "they're doing the best they can do". She told me that staff should never be telling patients they're understaffed. Food was terrible. If I could include pictures, you'd see toenail clippings stuck in the carpet when my father fist arrived and the whiteboard in my father's room with the same info on it for a week. No one there updated it for over a week- I'm sure they didn't want to update they're names so pts wouldn't know who to complain about. Good luck getting help bathing, my father was put on a schedule then it was changed for no apparent reason and he went for over 10 days without getting help with a shower. My father passed away at this facility. Hours later a staff member called me to let know (via voicemail as I did not answer) that they had made a previously requested update to his dietary plan. So, she apparently didn't get the memo that he was taken via ambulance to the hospital and was dead. It's sad to think about the first person I talked to when getting my dad settled here wanted me to do a Google review right there and now. If only Google reviews could give negative stars!! No rehab support happens on the weekends. So, any progress just slides back. I suppose to keep you there longer and they can keep billing medical insurance. Just don't do it. There are so many better facilities you can choose.
PT staff and several aides are wonderful, no complaints there. Absolutely everything else is horrible, meals making my loved one ill, no help to get to restroom in a timely manner resulting in accidents that are then blamed on the patient and rough treatment cleaning up follows, all while the aide complains TO THE PATIENT!! Getting meds on schedule is a pipe dream here, many many other issues regarding patient treatment. We have already escalated our issues, but please DO hesitate to send your loved one here.
Debbie Frohnapple; I just came home from Parkside after my knee replacement Their therapy is TOP notch.i had my surgery 11/13 and therapy helped me so much I was home in a week. I thought the food was ok and I'm picky. Nurses are attentive yes they are busy so if you need a pain pill don't wait until the pain is so bad. My mom is now there at 89 and stubborn but I seen first hand how Kathleen in therapy cares so much and helps her do much I told therapy my mom doesn't like hard things but we've told her you have to listen and do what your told. I'm having my right knee replaced in 6 months and of course returning to Parkside Villas. I'd tell anyone if you have a loved one who needs help this place is s gem I feel. !!
For a rehab place, It was very good in my opinion. Yes, they are understaffed and at times things were slow happening but I received excellent service and help from Christine in speech & memory and these three aides, Sierra, Barbara and Sue. They are all excellent and did outstanding jobs! I would recommend Parkside to people explaining the good over all the things complained about which the employees cannot help. I was there from September 26 till October 24 this year.
My wife has been here just over 24 hours and it's been horrible. She's there for extreme back pain and needs therapy. At 10 PM her bed stopped working and was stuck in a 30 degree angle. Not good for her back. They couldn't fix it and replaced it at 3 PM. So she had to sit in a chair the whole day with her bad back. Receiving her pain meds is a very slow process. The food is very bad and she's not given a chance to choose. She was told there are no options you get whatever they send. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Unfortunately we didn't have a lot of time to research before coming here. I want to add she arrived Friday afternoon and has not spoken to anyone about her care plan. Everyone seems to say it's the weekend so I guess the office only operates M-F???? Update 10/20 - Despite speaking to multiple administrators the problems here still continue. My wife has had repeated issues receiving the correct dosage of her pain meds over the past 3 weeks. Just this morning the nurse comes to her and says she can't pull her pain meds and she will be without. That was it she would have to wait until others came in. How's that for patient care? While there are a few good aides and nurses there are too many that just don't seem to care.
