My mother was there from 2010 to 2017. At the beginning she had pretty good care the last year was extremely difficult. My mother’s CNA Renee sent me a message a month or so before my mother passed, she told me my mother was like in a coma state and that she had told Pam her nurse but Pam would not go and check on my mother. By the time I got there Pam had finally went and checked on her and when she saw me she rushed up to tell me about my mother’s condition ( like she really cared) I asked if she had notified the doctor and she had not I demanded that she do so right away . No one was monitoring her medication and she went into a diabetic state coma like condition. Because of her nurse Renee contacting me when she did we probably would have lost her then. Her CNA on 2nd shift had issues when my mother used the N word (which I know upset her). I know when my mother used the N word she did so because she was being mistreated and I knew who was not nice to her because of the way my mother acted when certain CNA or nurses came into her room when I was there. I tried to reassure the CNA that my mother never used the N word that I can remember, and if my mother was in her right mind (she suffered was Alzheimer) she would be appalled with herself for using that word. My mother was not and never was a prejudice woman and her best friend was a black woman. I reported a large bruise on my mother’s leg to management and was told she would look into it. They never did get to the bottom of it. We regularly visited my mother weekly, had family get togethers a few times a year. The last year of my mother’s life we made sure one of us would visit every day so that the staff new she had a family who cared and loved her. My first job 1979 was there at River Bluff and one thing I remember in training was that the residents would sometimes use the N word along with other insulting s word and for those who have issues with that probably should not be in that line of work. That is still true 47 years later.
There have been changes in administration and nursing management recently. I must say I have always loved River Bluff but I am very impressed with the newly formed leadership & am looking forward to all the good things coming. Keep up the great work River Bluff, the people of our community depend on your care and we thank you.
I had to put my step Dad in there last year when he couldn't walk anymore. He is happy there which I didn't think he would be. It is always clean, the floors are spotless and never any urine smell like other places I've been. Everyone seems to care Ltcaralways seem s
I went into this facility as a CNA and have never seen more neglect in my life at any nursing home. This place needs new management for sure. A lot of medical professionals from other facilities talk amongst each other about the cruelty of this facility. Do not send your loved ones here and if you have a loved one there please find somewhere else.
My dad has been there since November. The food is good, the staff is friendly with him and family. But they have lost his glasses, most of his clothes which everything has his name on them. Today his partial is missing. What's next his hearing aides? Well they finally found his teeth the next day. Eye doctor was in this am and he will have new glasses in 2 weeks. Not sure how well he will see since he cant answer questions correctly most of the time.
