When you first put your loved ones there they are sweet as pie and the only reason of that is because they want your loved ones there not for love for the money when I always call there in the beginning I get answers after that no answers they wouldn’t even answer the phone. They wouldn’t return calls And then when I go to a higher person, they pretend like they care just to keep me happy but as the time went by when my loved one was there, I will call to access to speak to him and they will say he’s eating call back in 15 minutes. Call back oh he’s sleeping so I get upset and then I tell them you told me to call back. Have you eaten 15 minutes later you sleep so that mean that you didn’t bathe him You didn’t brush his teeth before he went to bed you didn’t wash his face or anything like that so he went to bed with clothes on that he ate in so they would not answer the phone. He failed two times there they will send him back-and-forth to the hospital not to be bothered with him. They will say he had a seizure to send him to the hospital and never had a seizure. it was so many things to avoid taking care of the patient. It was all about the money. I knew something was going on when they convinced me to bring my loved one there and always said that was the best home because the other nursing homes around there Wasn’t any good now I do my research. I should’ve looked at the reviews before I put my loved one there I just want to say thank you guys for nothing for mistreating my dad. I don’t know about the other clients there. I have no say so but I do pray to God that they don’t get the same treatment that my loved one did🥲 yes, please pray for this place and Pray for the remaining residence are there. Keep the prayers up God bless if I can give this place a zero I would.🙏🙏🙏
I wouldn't even give this place a one star but at least homeless people can move in there. My father received horrible care while he was in there, as soon as he got his Healthcare and we were able to find another place sadly my dad got a mysterious illness and passed away in a hospital. Nobody at the nursing home believed he was throwing up all of the time, his vitals were never taken, and of course they weren't taking his temperature. Other than my dad's care though, the place smells like poop and trash and the floors were sticky and dirty. Why continue when everything was a issue.
I recently discovered concerning issues regarding the treatment of elderly citizens at this facility. A conversation with my uncle revealed that a significant portion of the items we, as a family, had purchased for him are now missing, including clothing items with personal monograms. Despite our efforts to inquire about his Christmas wishes, he advised against sending any gifts as he would likely be unable to keep them. My uncle was relocated almost 11 months ago due to room issues, but the staff has not transferred his personal items, including an easy chair and other not so cheap items he purchased himself. Their claim of not knowing the location of these belongings is unacceptable. Of particular concern is my uncle's explicit request not to raise concerns due to fear of potential abuse or harm from the staff if they discover his complaints. This situation is beyond unacceptable, involving not only the misplacement of personal items but also the threat of mistreatment towards residents. I intend to escalate this matter up the chain of command first thing Monday morning, as such behavior is both egregious and reprehensible. Keep your family members out of this facility and away from the staff members actively employed by this facility. This is far from a safe or good environment for your loved ones.
My sister stayed at Avalon for 9 months after a serious stroke. She was paralyzed on the left side of her body. During her 9 month stay , my sister was able to walk initially with some assistance and later on pretty much on her own. The PT team did an outstanding job helping my sister physically and helped her through cognitive therapy. Marilyn McCormick, the Social Services Director, was very helpful in addressing issues. She is responsive , empathetic and goes beyond the job description. Like other similar facilities, they are sometimes short staffed but they try their best to help the residents. The nursing staff try to get to know the residents personally and are very empathetic. Special thanks to Robin and Michelle.
Worked here agency today & I must say this facility is not the one to be at. They don’t give you much information on the residents & the floor is really sticky. Residents rooms are pretty dirty & the staff is pretty rude. I picked up a 12-8 shift & was given rounds about 10 minutes into my shift. The lady told me about everybody & told me about a resident who was supposed to get a shower today but had one Friday so he didn’t want one. I’m through agency so I go off the first piece of advice they tell me. 7 & a half hours into my shift they try to tell me about a resident who wants a shower when I’m scheduled to leave at 8. I already did my rounds, toileted, & laid down but apparently that wasn’t enough. The lady told me at the start of my shift he doesn’t want one anymore so I went with that but apparently it was a problem when I was bout to get off. They can DNR me if they want but that’s not fair to make anybody do something before they have to get off especially being how rude they are
