Montcare at Wheaton

Our family is quite pleased our mother was placed at MontCare Wheaton for rehab. The entire staff is great! We appreciate all the nurses for their around the clock attention for care. Also, the rehab treatment from the therapy staff. Marsha Smith, Social Worker, coordinated and regularly met with us and the health team to keep us informed of our mother’s progress. Often, Ronnie Colbert, Administrator, took time to speak with us to make sure things were good.

My father died here 2 years ago. He was transferred from Holy Cross Hospital after a weeks stay. I feel that MontCare was negligent towards my dad because he had a heart attack but could have been saved if *found* in time. Not only that, but money was stolen out of his wallet when my family went to collect his belongings. The people who worked there seemed very lazy and they place reeked of urine.

I was grateful to have my husband at a location closer to where we live. This was a great place for my husband and myself. It was closer to our home. The staff were all so wonderful and for me it was like going home each and everyday I arrived to his room. They knew he liked being able to see the outside so after a few days he was switched to a room with a view of the courtyard. He absolutely love that. It blessed me as well knowing he was happy.

Our mother was recently at Montcare for rehab services after suffering a stroke. In the course of near a 3 week stay, the Rehab Staff were professional, attentive, and keep us abreast of our love one’s progress. It appeared that PT was more consistent and at least once a day, while OT was maybe 2-3 times in 7 days. Per the insurance, we had at least one case conference with the staff- rehab, nursing, dietary, and social work. It was unfortunate and not clear why speech pathology was absent. Nursing care both nurse assistants and nursing staff were professional and attentive, although some nurse assistants were not as attentive, patient, or helpful as others. The meals followed the protocol for our loved one’s dietary and medical needs, but some breakfasts were cold and meals late in coming. Rachel- a nurse aide was exceptional in her attentiveness and professionalism. She attended to our loved one’s activities of daily living- bathing and assisting with toilteing. Other aides were slow to respond to calls for assistance. It is critical for families to visit regularly, insure you speak with and have staff know you, and advocate for your loved one’s medical and social needs. Overall, we’d rate the facility a 4.

I was fortunate to be placed at Montcare in Wheaton, for rehab. The people there was great. The therapy staff was amazing. The made you feel like family. They work so well together with each other. My first day there, one of the administrator, Ronnie Colbert, knew where my room was. Every time he day me, he knew my name, and greeting me. The nurses was great. Kudos to the whole facility. I almost didn’t want to leave. Mrs. Angela one of the case worker, really kept me informed. She made the stay more tolerable.
