In 2010 we cared for both of our dads on hospice. Dad Huber stayed with us in our home and we cared for him night and day. It was a privilege to do so, but it took it's toll on our family- especially when he began getting confused and fell out of bed one night. Several months after he passed, dad Gordon needed additional care while he was in a nursing home back in NY. He had been there several years, but after a turnover in staff, we started becoming concerned about the care he was receiving. Eileen has been a nurse for 30 years and made contact with hospice to provide additional support and pain management. Several months later, after multiple attempts to coordinate care long distance,Eileen flew to NY and unfortunately witnessed abuse at the nursing home. With the help of the hospice team, we were able to get Dad Gordon to a better place. After these experiences, we wanted to help other families be able to navigate care and offer better solutions than we had during that difficult time. We opened our Visiting Angels agency in 2012 in memory of our dads. We would love the opportunity to help you care for your loved one and provide the resources and support needed to help them age with dignity and grace in their own home.
