Caregiver Job Description
About the Position We are seeking a compassionate and reliable Caregiver / Home Health Aide to provide quality in-home care and support for Veterans. This role is vital in helping Veterans maintain their independence, dignity, and quality of life while receiving the assistance they need in the comfort of their own homes. Responsibilities • Assist Veterans with activities of daily living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility support. • Provide companionship and emotional support, fostering a safe and positive environment. • Support with meal preparation, feeding assistance, and dietary needs as required. • Perform light housekeeping tasks (laundry, cleaning, organizing living areas). • Assist with medication reminders (non-clinical). • Provide transportation or escorting to medical appointments, errands, or community activities. • Monitor and report changes in the client’s physical, emotional, or mental condition to family members or supervisors. • Follow the Veteran’s care plan and VA guidelines to ensure quality and consistency in service. Qualifications • Previous experience as a caregiver, home health aide, or in a related healthcare field preferred. • VA-approved training or eligibility (preferred, but assistance can be provided for those not yet certified). • Ability to handle physical demands of the role, including lifting, transferring, and assisting with mobility. • Strong communication and interpersonal skills. • Dependable, patient, and compassionate personality. • Must pass a background check and provide professional references. • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation preferred.
