Caregivers at Helping Hearts Foundation, Inc. are responsible for the activities of daily living of each assigned client as noted in the client care plan. These duties can include the following: (Companion Services) Light Housekeeping, Meal Preparation with or without special diet, Laundry, Linen Change, Errands, Grocery Shopping and Activities to promote will-being and stimulate mind and the spirit. (Personal Care Services) Dressing, Grooming, Bathing, Standby Assistance, Transferring Clients, Incontinence Care, Catheter Care, Colostomy Care, Medication Reminders, Dementia Care, Oxygen Monitoring, Hospice Care, Bedbound Care, and PT assigned exercises and other duties as assigned. Caregivers will be required to assist a client with a min, mod or max transfer. Caregiver must be able to bend, stoop, squat and lift to perform daily household tasks as well as patient care. Once a company issued scrub is provided, caregivers are required to wear a scrub top unless asked to wear regular clothes by the office. Scrubs are to be clean and tidy. Slacks or khaki pants, knee level shorts and crop pants are to be conservative, clean and neat. For safety reasons, finger nails are to be kept short and clean and jewelry is to be kept to a minimum and if worn should not be large and/or dangle from the body. No tattoos or body piercings are to be visible while on the job. Caregivers are required to be well groomed and maintain a professional appearance at all times while on the job. Caregivers will be provided with a company issued scrub top, but may choose to purchase their own at their own expense. No open toed shoes are to be worn. Tennis shoes with firm grip are preferred. Caregiver must be compassionate and provide excellent care to assigned clients. Caregiver must be punctual for scheduled shifts and reliable on an ongoing basis. Caregivers may not perform injections, tube feeding, medication dispensing, nail trimming, hair cutting or dying, total transfers of client and any other duty the State of California requires a medical license. Caregivers must notify Helping Hearts Foundation, Inc. if they are unable to perform any of the assigned duties as outlined in the care plan for each client. The company will determine if further training is required or reassignment of case. It is the responsibility of the caregiver to notify office staff if they are no longer able to perform the duties as noted above.
