Caregiver Job Description
• Empathy and the ability to care for the client's social, emotional, physical, and mental health.
• Proficient with the proper handling of medications.
• Ability to multi-task, be flexible and organized.
• Ability to remain calm and handle any emergencies that may arise.
• Exceptionally patient, good at listening and responding to others' needs.
• Proficient in some domestic chores such as preparing meals and cleaning.
• Trained in specialized areas of care, for example, dementia or Alzheimer's disease.
• Trained to be proficient in fall prevention.
• Trained to assist with the resident’s activities of daily living, which include but not limit to incontinence care, transfers and mobility aid, peri care and personal hygiene.
• Learn how to properly document for the medication management, progress notes, and incident reports.
• Ability to communicate effectively about a resident’s care and concerns to the medical team and providers.
• Learn about the requirements for preparing meals for a proper or specific diet.
• Learn the requirements for remaining compliant with Kindred Hearts, DHS, and NWSDS guidelines and requirements.
• Trained diabetic requirements for resident care, diet, and medication requirements.
• Trained in the process of catheter care, and daily requirements.
• Learn how to effectively work with Hospice staff and residents. To be show expectations of what is expected in care, reporting concerns.
