Caregiver Job Description
Job Description and Responsibilities:
• To provide a safe, reliable and high quality caregiving service to resident patients at our Assisted Living Facilities
• General caregiving assistance; helping residents move from bedroom to common areas to rest rooms as needed
• To help maintain and attend resident hygiene; pertains to being clean from head to foot, bathing, assist with incontinence (including infection control)
• General housekeeping; ensure shower areas, floors, toilets, trash are cleaned or disposed properly; cleaning resident bedrooms; laundry
• Assistance with Supervising Caregiver and Nurses
• Medication administration
• Prepare meals and snacks as shown on the daily menu.
• Charting forms such as: the Medication and Treatment Record, Activities of Daily Living, and Daily Skin Assessment.
• Able to communicate with doctors, nurses, family, etc., on behalf of the supervisor/manager and owner when not available.
• Able to provide First Aid and CPR and to contact 911 during an emergency and follow their instructions (bearing in mind a resident’s DNR on file)
• Able to assist residents on evacuation and disaster and to contact 911
• Able to recognize illness and resident discomfort (to include suspected abuse, neglect, and exploitation). Report (and document) immediately to supervisor/manager and owner, or call 911.
• Reporting and documenting accidents and unusual incidents.
• Able to read, write, understand, and communicate in English.
Minimum Requirements:
• Required to pass a criminal/background check in accordance with ARS 36-411.
• Must provide three (3) verifiable references (non-family); include one previous employer
• Must be able to transport self to the work site on a regular and timely scheduled basis
Document and Medical Requirements:
• Must have or be able to obtain and maintain current CPR and First Aid Certifications
• Must have or be able to obtain and maintain a negative tuberculosis skin test.
• Must have or be able to obtain 3 levels of caregiving certification
• Fingerprint Card (Police background check)
