Caregiver Job Description
Position: Caregiver/ Direct Support Professional (DSP) Location: Solano and Napa County, CA Type: Full-Time/Part-Time Job Summary: As a Buenavista SLS Caregiver/DSP, you will play a crucial role in enhancing the quality of life for individuals with disabilities or special needs. Your primary responsibility is to provide compassionate, person-centered care, helping clients maintain their independence while ensuring their health and safety. You will work closely with clients in their homes, assisting with daily tasks, monitoring their well-being, and promoting their overall comfort. Key Responsibilities: Personal Care: Assist clients with bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and other hygiene needs, ensuring dignity and respect at all times. Health Support: Administer medication reminders, monitor health conditions, and report any changes to healthcare professionals or the individual’s circle as support as needed. Daily Living Assistance: Help with meal preparation, feeding (if necessary), and encouraging proper nutrition. Support light housekeeping such as laundry, dishwashing, and organizing living spaces. Mobility Support: Assist with transfers, repositioning, and using mobility aids. Provide support for physical therapy exercises as directed by healthcare providers. Social & Emotional Support: Engage clients in meaningful activities, provide companionship, and encourage participation in community events. Driving and accompanying clients to appointments, shopping, and social outings when necessary. Documentation & Communication: Keep accurate daily logs of activities, health status, and any incidents. Communicate regularly with family members, healthcare professionals, and the broader caregiving team to ensure coordinated care. Requirements: Previous caregiving experience (preferred but not required) Certification in First Aid/CPR (or willing to obtain) Ability to lift and support clients Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and auto insurance Cleared criminal background check (DOJ)
