Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Job Description
Job Standards:
Must be current registry of certification to work as a Nursing Assistant by the State of North Carolina.
Must be able to safely perform all essential job functions without harm to self or others with or without reasonable accommodations.
Physical & Cognitive Requirements:
Strength:
The ability to transfer, lift, turn or assist a resident to or from beds, wheelchairs, Hoyer lifts, tubs, and showers. This requires the ability push, pull, and lift from 25 – 75 lbs. unassisted. (Frequently)
Manual Dexterity:
The ability to properly use all of the equipment listed above as well as thermometers, blood pressure equipment, a writing instrument, safety pins, buttons, snaps, buckles, and tie strings. (Frequently)
Coordination:
The ability to safely assist a resident with all transfers and ambulation. Must be able to move about in tight spaces and between objects, equipment and furniture. (Frequently)
Mobility:
Constant walking and standing is required. Frequent bending, kneeling and squatting are also required. (Frequently)
Visual Discriminations:
The ability to visually identify a resident within a reasonable distance, (approximately 20 feet to identify a “wandering” resident). The ability to focus and read a thermometer, blood pressure gauge and similar equipment. The ability to identify colors for warning lights, signs, and labels. (Frequently)
Must be available to work every other weekend.
