Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Job Description
Supervise Certified Nurse Assistants to provide quality nursing care to residents under the direction of the attending physician.
• Dispense, administer, and record medication according to professional standards.
• Provide and record treatments according to professional standards.
• Maintain written records for all residents of The Woodlands in a professional manner.
• Communicate in written and oral form with other health care professionals in accordance with accepted nursing procedures.
• Complete daily nursing duties in a professional manner.
• Inform supervisory and administrative staff of any unusual occurrences.
• Assist in the coordination of doctor visits, appointments, transportation, and resident companion.
• Assist with meal service as needed.
• Complete and maintain nursing assessments and care plans.
• Communicate with families’ needs and conditions of residents.
• Record charge slips as requested.
• Give general personal care to residents including baths, toileting, grooming, oral hygiene and assist the resident in positioning, range of motion and dressing as needed.
• Provide for the safety of the resident in use of side rails, mechanical lifts, etc, as instructed according to applicable facility, state and federal regulations, and document.
• Attend and participate in team meetings and staff development programs and keep knowledge of geriatric care current.
• Function in a professional, calm manner in emergency situations to include transporting residents.
• Maintain and safeguard entrusted confidential information.
• Maintain clean, neat, and organized nurses station, med room, and unit.
• Attend and participate in continuing educational programs designed to keep you abreast of changes in your profession, as well as to maintain your license on a current status.
• Follow established safety regulations, departmental policies and procedures, and participate in fire safety and disaster preparedness drills in a safe and professional manner.
• Support and be loyal to Meth-Wick and its mission statement.
• Be flexible, receptive and adaptive to change.
• Understand and apply basic principles of good housekeeping and safety.
