Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Job Description
The Client Care Assistant (CCA) provides care and support to clients under direction of the agency physician, nurse supervisor, and/or agency LPN’s. The CCA directly contributes to the delivery of focused client care. Examples include but are not limited to obtaining clients’ vital signs, documenting client observations and interactions in the daily log, screening and responding to clients’ needs as appropriate. All CCA ‘s will be cross-trained for coverage of the medical window position. Essential Job Functions: • Prepare, clean, and sterilize instruments and equipment • Observe, monitor and record clients' physical and emotional well-being, and promptly report any changes to senior staff • Encourage clients to participate in social and recreational activities • Maintain order and cleanliness of exam room; dispose of contaminated items according to procedure; anticipate physician's needs for supplies and equipment, and plan accordingly • Actively participate in continuing education opportunities, required meetings, and committees, as requested • Demonstrate compassion, kindness and respect to all clients, staff, volunteers, and visitors • Ensure that no resident leave the medical recovery unit on second shift unless it is a medical emergency • Respond to a crisis in a calm, reassuring manner and notify your supervisor. • Employ universal standard precautions, including the use of personal protective equipment, for anticipated contact with blood or other potentially infectious materials Qualifications: • High school diploma or GED equivalent required • Agree to sign a confidentiality agreement and adhere to it in perpetuity • A minimum of one to three years' experience as a Client Care Assistant in a clinic, private home, or an acute-care setting preferred • Current First-Aid certification (available at CRC) • Current CPR certification (available at CRC) • Thorough knowledge of the meaning and use of medical terminology and abbreviations (Continued on-site training) • Ability to read, interpret, and apply Center policies and procedures • Ability to communicate effectively - both verbally and in writing to include proper grammar, spelling, punctuation, presentation, and composition skills necessary to appropriate medical records • Training in safe patient handling and movement desirable, but not essential • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients and staff • Ability to work effectively under pressure, and to use discretion with confidential data that may impact staff and operation of the Center • Ability to prioritize and coordinate multiple tasks
