Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Job Description
CNA Responsibilities:
Provide great patient care.
Answer patient calls and determine how best to help them.
Provide physical support for patients or residents with daily activities and personal hygiene, including bathing, dressing, getting of bed, -- using the toilet, walking, standing, or exercising.
Turn and reposition bedridden patients.
Ensure patients receive an appropriate diet by reviewing their dietary restrictions food allergies and preferences.
Obtain a wide range of information from physicians, caregivers and nurses about patient condition, treatment plans and suggested activities.
Measure and record food and liquid intake and urinary and fecal output and reporting changes to medical or nursing staff.
Record vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature and respiration rate as requested by staff.
Examine patients to detect issues requiring patient care, including open wounds, bruises or blood in urine.
Remind patients to take medications and nutritional supplements.
Note observations of patient behavior, including complaints or physical symptoms to nurses.
Stay up to date on CNA training and facility policy and procedure
CNA Requirements:
2+ years of work experience
Basic Health and Tuberculosis Screening (TB/PPD Skin Test)
Requirement for job duties able to lift up to 50lbs
State Certified Nursing Assistant Certification
Current First Aid/CPR Certification (American Heart Association)
Ability to think and work independently and with direction and communicate with staff members in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment
High School graduate or equivalent
ValidDriver’s License and Insurance
Meeting recurring training requirements
