Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Job Description
JOB TITLE: RESIDENT AIDE
Must be at least 18 years of age; maintain a criminal record clearance, and a current negative T.B. test.
FUNCTION: Supervise or assist Residents with personal care services, which include self administered medication management, Activities of Daily Living [ADL’s] and Instrumental Activities of Daily Living [IADL’s] as identified in the Resident Service Plan. Supervision includes reminding and/or observing residents while they perform activities. Assistance includes either physical assistance or standby supervision.

QUALIFICATIONS: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
Minimum Qualifications: Must demonstrate competency in the following area:
• ADL’s/IADL’s;
• Medication supervision [within the scope of the state regulations];
• Read, write, speak and understand the English language.
• Freedom from illegal use of drugs.
• Freedom from use and effects of use of drugs and alcohol in the workplace.
• Persons who have been found guilty by a court of law of abusing, neglecting, or mistreating individuals in a health care related setting are ineligible for employment in the position.
• Demonstrates effective time management skills.
Education and/or experience: High school diploma or general education degree [GED], or three-six months related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience desired.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
• First Aid Certification
• Certified Nursing Assistant is a plus but strictly required
• CPR Certification
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Must be able to express self adequately in written and oral communication and to communicate effectively in an interdisciplinary care setting with Residents, families, staff members, representatives of community and government agencies.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add and subtract three digit numbers and do simple multiplication and division.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written oral, diagram or schedule form.
