St. Mary’s Villa Nursing Home Job Description JOB TITLE: Certified Nurses Aide FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt DEPARTMENT: Nursing SUPERVISOR: Director of Nursing The Certified Nursing Assistant performs direct nursing care activities under the direction of licensed nursing personnel in accordance with St. Mary’s Villa Campus policies and procedures, state and federal regulations. Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: Provide the resident with the following personal care services, prior to the end of a shift and without being reminded: A. Total bed baths B. Tub baths/showers C. Proper mouth care D. Proper skin care E. Foot Care F. Nail Care G. Dressing/grooming H. Makes beds and passes fresh water each shift and as needed I. Passes and empties bed pans; collects urine and fecal specimens J. Weighs residents Completes clear and accurate documentation skills on ADL flowsheets and replaces sheets as needed. Reviews NCI Record before beginning work assignment to assure quality care for residents. Demonstrates ability to accurately measure: A. Blood Pressure and Pulse Rate B. Height and Weight C. Resident Intake and Output Maintains resident’s privacy and dignity, and respects the resident’s right to confidentiality. Prepares residents for meals, serves food trays to residents and assists with feeding when necessary. Makes sure residents are clean after completing their meal. Keeps record of resident’s food intake and output. Prepares and transports residents to activities and appointments and other functions as needed. Responds promptly to call signals and fulfills the residents’ request in a reasonable amount of time. Checks all assigned residents on rounds to determine if they have any needs or if there is any cause for concern regarding present status. Additional Duties and Responsibilities May follow through on range of motion exercises with residents. Assists Restorative Nursing Program through transferring and walking residents as needed. Perform general housekeeping duties in work area. Cleans utility rooms, pantries, lounges, and linen closets. Observes and practices Infection Control and Standard Precautions in accordance with St. Mary’s Villa Campus standards. Utilizes equipment in a safe and appropriate manner as designated by facility policy. Observes and promptly reports equipment safety hazards or defective/malfunctioning equipment or supplies. Demonstrates good body mechanics when performing care. Demonstrates knowledge of fire drill and all other emergency preparedness plans. Demonstrates proper transfer practices, as well as the two person lift procedures. Uses a back belt when appropriate. Uses the lift properly. Follows care plan and advises Charge Nurse of any changes noted in residents. Demonstrates knowledge about the Material Safety Data Sheets book. Attends mandatory inservices and other inservices in order to update and enhance present knowledge and skills.
