Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Job Description
Qualifications • 18 years or older • Successful completion of state-approved nursing assistant certification course • Willing and able to provide proof of certification and of good standing with state registry • Reliable transportation • Compliance with annual TB clearance via skin test or chest x-ray • Pass criminal background check upon hire • Ability to communicate fluently in English • Ability to understand both oral and written instructions Job Duties • Provide nursing assistance under supervision of the Director of Nursing • Assist residents as needed with their Activities for Daily Living (ADLs) in a respectful and dignified manner • Respect the privacy and individuality of each resident • Provide comfort and encouragement when providing assistance • Maintain pleasant and professional demeanor and work ethic at all times • Demonstrate ability to complete required documentation, including ADLs performed and documentation of clients’ physical, medical, and behavioral progress and changes • Maintain confidentiality of client and company information • Assist Clients with skill development and participation in social and community involvement. This may include contacts with family and friends, developing relationships within the community, or participation in social, religious, or other organizations • Promptly report all mistreatment to supervisor(s), including abuse and neglect as required by law • Complete mandatory cleaning tasks during each shift • Take steps to minimize safety hazards and prevent further damage; promptly report any property or equipment in need of repair • Use food, supplies, and utilities efficiently in order to minimize waste • Complete required orientation and ongoing training to promote personal and professional development • Participate in mandatory staff meetings • Respond in the event of an emergency to protect the health, safety, and well-being of the people served • Comply with federal, state, and local licensing rules and regulations • Perform other duties as assigned by the Administrator or Board of Directors Physical Demands • Mobility about the residence and direct client care involving moving, transferring and possibly lifting residents • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs, on an occasional basis and stand for at 75% of the time • Must be able to move quickly, push, pull, bend, stoop, twist, reach, and balance
