Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Job Description

Independent Living Skill Trainers (ILST) provide training and supervision/assistance in all daily living skills, assisting in developing, monitoring, reporting, and recording progress to individuals with an acquired or Traumatic Brain Injury. An ILST’s primary goal is to assist their clients in living their most independent life which can include: Functional Communication (starting and ending conversations, staying on topic, eye contact, turn-taking) Interpersonal Skill Development & Self Advocacy Resource and Benefits Coordination Household Management (paying bills, setting up appointments, maintenance needs) Recreational Activities Medication Supervision/Reminders Observing Infection Control Practices Physical Care and Hygiene Task Completion Socialization, Community Participation, Sensory Motor Skills, Transportation Training Problem Solving Skills Financial Management Skills Home Environment Maintenance Requirements: Four years of direct care experience with individuals with a brain injury or other cognitive disability OR Possess a Bachelor’s degree with one-year experience in the related field OR Possess associate’s degree in social care, human care programs, or related field and two years of experience working with individuals with disabilities. OR Is currently enrolled in a degree program in special education, occupational therapy, therapeutic recreation, and teaching with at least three years of ILST experience OR is a licensed healthcare professional (CNA, LPN, RBT) Valid Driver's License and reliable personal transportation Full vaccination from COVID-19 Authorized to work in the U.S. CNA license not required but beneficial
