Registered Nurse (RN) Job Description
The RN will ensure that each individual receives quality, individualized health care management, resulting in his or her optimal health. The RN will act as a health/medical resource for staff and to ensure that the company is in compliance with state requirements and organizational policies regarding medical care and records. The RN will provide education and training to staff and HHP and ensure continued competency, according to Federal and State requirements. Education can include, but is not limited to, QMAP, g-tube feedings, glucose monitoring, EpiPen etc. The RN collaborates as part of the Interdisciplinary Team in developing implementing and evaluating the plan. The RN participates in the quality assurance process in order to analyze and assure continuous improvement in the quality of health care supports. The RN functions as an advocate for individuals for whom care is provided. The RN is responsible for educating the individuals under his/her care, family members, members of the individual’s support team and the public, including health care providers. This education is to include information about the individual’s care and needs, as well as about the health care needs of an individual with developmental disabilities in general. The RN assumes responsibility for continued competence, professional development and accountability. RN Expectations including but not limited to: Admission, annual and as needed assessments and individualized care planning of health care needs, implementation and evaluation Individual protocol development Medical assessments, telephone triage Medication management, MAR review and development, medication error education Diabetic Education and monitoring, including finger sticks, insulin administration G-tube management and education EpiPen training and monitoring Any other client specific medical need training, as needed QMAP training and testing New hire training and competencies Employees and HHP continuing education
