Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Job Description
Certified Nursing Assistant 1. Provides nursing care in accordance for a Certified Nurse Assistant and written standards of nursing and State and Federal Regulations. 2. Assist in maintaining order and cleanliness within the unit to promote comfort and safety. 3. Perform direct Resident care, transfers, and discharges. 4. Turning and positioning of Resident with proper positioning devices to prevent skin breakdowns. 5. Assist in transporting Residents with proper positioning devices to prevent skin breakdowns. 6. Provides restorative nursing as needed. 7. Assist in transporting Residents, per wheelchair, stretcher, bed, or per ambulation (use of lifts and gait belts) properly and safely. 8. Forces or restricts fluids as directed. 9. Calculates Intake and Output as ordered. Bowel Movements documented per shift. 10. Assist residents with coughing and deep breathing exercises. 11. Change linen as scheduled and as needed soilage; provide proper bagging with each. 12. Assist with post mortem care; transport body to morgue. 13. Weighs residents as indicated. 14. Call light within reach at all times. Remind where location of emergency call light location in bathrooms and shower rooms. 15. Provides bedpan and urinal service and emesis basin as needed. Cleaning per schedule. 16. Sanitize bathtubs, shower chairs, etc., between residents with disinfectant (lock up for safety purpose after each usage). 17. Reports problems, changes or questions to Charge Nurse. Completes CNA log every shift and gives pertinent information on residents’ changes every shift per assigned residents. 18. Participates actively in team conferences. 19. Makes frequent rounds on assigned Residents noting condition and requests. 20. Assists with answering all Residents’ lights promptly, whether or not assigned to Resident. 21. Extends courtesy to all visitors. 22. Any other task assignments by Charge Nurse or Nursing Management.
