Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Job Description
Nursing Duties and Responsibilities 1. Check time schedule for respective shift. 2. Confer with Staffing Department Coordinator regarding shift personnel for adequate coverage as needed. 3. Monitors follow up on all residents’ plan of care. Plan effective administration of assigned division 4. Interprets principles of good management to division personnel and implements application of these principles in daily work. 5. Assure that established policies and procedure are being implemented 6. Evaluates plans and organized nursing care according to established policies and procedures 7. Supervises all nursing activities and promotes improvement in care for all patients, follow through in disciplinary actions as indicated. 8. Supervises the scheduling of division of assignments so as to be consistent with each staff members education, training and experience 9. Encourage attitudes and behavior of staff members that are consistent with high nursing standards. a. Dependability b. Honesty c. Dignity d. Trustworthy (verbal and non-verbal) e. Sensitivity 10. Maintain constant communication with nursing supervisor. 11. Maintain constant communications with nursing supervisor. 12. Make continual rounds on division (905 of time spent on division). 13. Provide medication and treatment as order by physician. 14. Attends staff meetings and conferences as required. 15. Notifies the attending physician of any significant changes in the residents’ condition. 16. Daily supervises the care of residents. A. Daily reviews clinical health records to assure accuracy and completeness of documentation. 1. Current Doctors Orders 2. Correct Transcription 3. Consistent, current, accurate nurses’ notes. 17. Visit each resident daily. 18. Make daily (more frequently if needed) assessment of the seriously ill resident, new admission, re-admission. 19. Periodically make rounds to analyze care given on each shift of all residents’; designate or take off doctor’s orders. 20. Supervises narcotic and drug control and discard unused medications with pharmacist or another nurse and document. 21. Counsel resident and/or his family in regard to the resident’s condition when indicated and appropriate. 22. Accountable for make sound independent decisions regarding nursing care. 23. Evaluate emergencies and determines emergency measures. 24. Examine and give emergency treatment to patients and personnel involvements in incidents/accidents. Notify physician and complete incident reports. 25. Handle patient or personnel grievances; and or refer them to the Director of Nursing. 26. Plans effective administration of assigned unit. Interprets principles of good management of nursing personnel and implants application of these principles in daily work. 27. Reviews and interprets work performance against accepted standards to include documentation. 28. Respond to all codes on your shift. Other related duties as designated. 29. Completed skin assessments and monthly summaries daily as scheduled. 30. Other duties as assigned.
