Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Job Description
1. Provides services that are ordered in the plan of care and that the aide is permitted to perform under State law. 2. Performs hands-on personal care. 3. Performs simple procedures as an extension of the therapy or nursing services as assigned. 4. Assistance in ambulation or exercises as assigned. 5. Assists with medications that are ordinarily self-administered as assigned. 6. Understands and adheres to established Agency policies and procedures. 7. Completes appropriate visit records in a timely manner as per Agency policy. 8. Reports changes in the patient's condition and needs to the appropriate personnel. 9. Performs household services essential to health care in the home as assigned. 10. Attends staff meetings and patient care conferences as scheduled. 11. Follows Agency policy for cleaning equipment between patient uses. 12. Carries out, reports and documents care given in an effective, timely manner as observed by the RN and through periodic record reviews. 13. Completes all work assigned by the RN. 14. Does not accept assignments for a patient with special needs for which he/she has not received appropriate training. 15. Observes confidentiality and safeguards all patient related information. 16. Reports any variance, accident or unusual occurrence to the appropriate personnel. 17. Participates in QM activities as requested. 18. Maintains acceptable attendance status, per Agency policy. 19. Reports incomplete work assignments to RN. 20. Appearance is always within Agency standard; is clean and well groomed. 21. Demonstrates effective time management skills through daily documentation and infrequent overtime for routine assignments. 22. Attends position related in-services. Attends all mandatory in-service programs as scheduled; minimally 12 hours/year. 23. Maintains clean and neat work environment. 24. Demonstrates sound judgment and decision making. 25. Maintains current CPR certification. 26. Performs other duties as assigned. WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Works indoors in Agency office and patient homes and travels to/from patient homes.
