Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Job Description
General Responsibilities: The Resident Care Aide will be responsible for helping residents maintain maximum independence by encouraging and assisting with their participation in activities of daily living and community engagement. Resident Care Aides provide service to the residents 365 days a year regardless of weather. Weekend and holiday rotation is mandatory, as is a responsibility to serve during inclement weather. Required Education and Training: High School Diploma with one-year caregiving experience or GED with DCS Certificate or CNA certificate. Be at least 18 years of age; ability to comply with criminal background and other required checks. Equipment/Machines; Telephone, computer, printer, fax, copier, cell phone, walkie talkie, beeper, pendant shut off, keys, automated call attendant system, pulse ox, thermometer, oxygen, BP cuff (manual and automatic), scale. Duties of the position (the below is not meant to be an all-inclusive list of responsibilities) - Provides an atmosphere which allows residents to maintain their privacy, dignity and well-being in a safe and nurturing environment ensuring resident rights are honored at all time. - Engages residents in decisions regarding their care as their abilities allow. - Works effectively with staff in all departments to carry out The Hickman mission. - Welcomes visitors, families, vendors and friends of The Hickman with respect, answering questions and/or referring them to the appropriate staff member who can assist them. - Knows and follows each resident’s specific plan of care and documents resident’s level of participation in care as required. - Recognizes and respects individual abilities, offering assistance when needed but facilitating independence where possible. - Answers call bells in a reasonable amount of time acknowledging the residents’ request - Adheres to infection control measures, such as hand washing, use of PPE. - Always carries walkie-talkie, beeper, pendant shut off and room key - Adheres to department dress code, and presents a neat, clean, appearance (per personnel manual). - Reports safety hazards, any broken, non-operational equipment or furniture, or other safety concerns to appropriate staff member; when necessary, removes item from the area to prevent a safety hazard (per personnel manual). - Covid19 protocols adhered to: facial masks at all times, daily temperature and symptom checks, follows strict infection control processes such as washes hands and uses hand sanitizer.
