Personal Care Assistant (PCA) Job Description
JOB DESCRIPTION IN-HOME AIDE Job Summary To provide care in a home or facility setting. The In-Home Aide is a CNA or PCA paraprofessional member of the health care team who would work directly under the supervision and direction of the Agency Director, or it’s designee and Service Director and provide various task to clients of E-Motions Family Services Inc. The majority of which would be hands on tasks Qualifications • Must be at least (18) year of age and have a minimum of a High School Diploma or its equivalent (GED). E-Motions Family Services Inc. prefers applicants have at least six (6) months to one (1) years’ experience in the healthcare profession. Experience may include private duty, agencies, family, assisted living facility, or nursing facility. • Applicants must not have any reports of theft, neglect, abuse, or a criminal background which prohibits E-Motions Family Services Inc. from employing them. • Applicants must have three (3) satisfactory references from previous employers or personal references. • Must display good emotional health and be able to physically tolerate standing, bending, stooping and lifting. • Must be able to read and follow written instructions and document care according to the client’s care plan. • Applicant should demonstrate flexibility in acceptance of assignment and a cooperative attitude toward providing services; and meet all agency requirements including proving competent before an initial assignment. Responsibilities • Performs under the supervision of the Director, or it’s designee, or Service Director (RN) who provides written instructions for client Plan of Care (POC). • Assist client with Personal Care Services (PCS) (e.g. bathing, grooming, meal prep, monitor medication, light cleaning and etc.): as documented in the client plan of care. • Performs home management task, which facilitates client’s self-care in the home. • Completes documentation of client’s task in a timely manner and required assignments. • May not go beyond your cope of practice. Only perform task in which you are competent to perform. • May NOT administer medication to a client under any circumstance. (Monitor and Remind Only) • Maintains confidentiality regarding the client’s condition and his/her/family with the exception of the agency. • Follow written and oral instruction given by the agency Health Care Team • Assist client in living in a clean, healthy environment. • Observe the client for general physical, emotional and mental condition and reports all changes in client condition to agency Health Care Team. • Answers client’s call while in the residence and attends to their needs as promptly as possible. • Report to office when you are unable to provide services to a client. • Provide hands on care services
