Home Care Aide (HCA) Job Description
Position Summary: The Assistance in Living Care Giver assists elderly residents so that independent living can be maintained for as long as appropriate and possible. This position requires the balance of promoting independence and providing assistance to residents. Qualifications: High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required. Two (2) years experience in private duty. Ability to read, write and comprehend simple introductions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to effectively present information in a one-on-one or small group setting. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide numbers as well as performing these operations using units of American money, weights, measurements, volume and distance. Ability to carry out detailed written or oral communications. Ability to deal successful with simple problems involving the client in standardized situation. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Transports residents from Garden Apartment to the Manor House and back to their home. Assists in transferring clients into and out of bed, into/out of automobile or into/out of wheelchair to lavatory. Assists residents with all tasks associated with bathing, grooming and dressing. Provides medication reminders to residents who are in need of this service. Picks up and delivers meals. Maintains records of service performed and of apparent condition of client. Communicates significant resident changes in condition or events to Nursing and the Admissions Coordinator. Responds to all emergency calls from the Garden Apartments. Carries a Spectra-link telephone and responds to other like requests from the residents. Housekeeping duties as assigned. Commits to high ethical standards and complies with the Code of Conduct, state and federal regulations, accreditation standards and Concordia policies and procedures. Maintains confidentiality of resident and employee records and information. Has a duty to report compliance concerns, significant legal risk questions, fraud, abuse, suspected or actual misconduct to a supervisor/manager or to the Corporate Compliance Officer.
