Home Care Aide (HCA) Job Description
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated individual to join our team as an Adult Residential Facility Direct Support Professional. In this role, you will be responsible for providing care and support to adults with developmental disabilities who reside in our residential facility. Your primary goal will be to promote independence, ensure the well-being of our residents, and enhance their quality of life. Responsibilities: Provide direct care and support to adults with developmental disabilities living in the residential facility. Assist residents with daily activities, including personal hygiene, grooming, dressing, and meal preparation. Create and maintain a safe and supportive living environment for residents, ensuring their physical and emotional well-being. Administer medication and document any changes or concerns in residents' health. Implement individualized care plans, following specific goals and objectives for each resident. Encourage and assist residents in participating in recreational and social activities both within the facility and in the community. Support residents in developing life skills and promoting independence in areas such as personal finance, household chores, and community integration. Document and maintain accurate records of daily activities, incidents, and progress made by residents. Collaborate with other members of the interdisciplinary team, including therapists, nurses, and case managers, to provide comprehensive care and support. Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent. A degree in a related field such as social work, psychology, or healthcare is preferred. Prior experience working with adults with developmental disabilities, preferably in a residential setting. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with residents, their families, and other team members. Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting individuals with developmental disabilities. Knowledge of person-centered care approaches and ability to apply them in daily practice. Basic knowledge of medical procedures and ability to administer medication according to established protocols. Ability to handle challenging behaviors and crisis situations in a calm and professional manner. Understanding of confidentiality and ability to maintain privacy of residents' personal information. Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed. CPR and First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain them within a specified timeframe. Clear criminal background check and tuberculosis (TB) screening.
