Certified Medication Technician (CMT) Job Description
Essential Functions and Responsibilities: • Provide residents with medication administration and treatment assistance and services according to the health care provider’s orders • Supervise residents who self-administer medication while following company and regulatory guidelines • Maintain resident records regarding medication distribution and incidents; Observe residents for safety and reports any and all changes in resident condition effectively, accurately, and in a timely manner to LN on duty • Assisting residents with ADL tasks including but not limited to: assisting with bathing, grooming, toileting, dressing, oral care, ambulation, transfers, serving and assisting with meals, feeding, housekeeping, bed making, and laundry • Observe and uphold resident rights at all times; Assist residents to and from meals; Relate to residents in a courteous, empathetic, and cooperative manner • Must be willing to work with and provide assistance to other staff from all departments to ensure quality of care for residents • Keep environment safe and clean for residents • Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisor • Carry and posses a working knowledge of community paging system Requirements: • Must be able to perform the essential functions and responsibilities of the position • Must posses an upbeat, positive, flexible, and enthusiastic personality and be congenial with fellow employees, residents, and the public at large. • Must be an honest and dependable individual. • Must maintain proper hygiene and be professional in dress and presentation. • Must be willing to be active and on feet during entire work shift. • Must be able to effectively communicate verbally and in writing in standard English and use own judgment and initiative in daily activities. • Must be a mature individual. Must posses the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and perform a variety of tasks, often changing assignments on short notice. • Must be detail and team work oriented and have strong organizational skills, as well as the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines. • Successful completion of state certified medication aide/tech course. • Must attend required in-services / workshops to further education of skills and community requirements. • Must be drug free and submit to drug screening upon hire and routinely. • Must be able to pass a criminal background check upon hire and as required by state regulations.
