Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Job Description
Responsible to provide direct nursing care to the residents and to supervise the day to day nursing activities performed by the nursing assistants. Prepare and administer medications and treatments as ordered by the physician Review medication record for completeness of information, accuracy in the transcription of the physicians order and adherence to stop order policies. Administer professional services such as catherization, tube feedings, suction, applying and changing dressings/bandages, packs, colostomy and drainage bags, caring for the dead/dying etc. as requires. Responsible for completing of admission, discharge and transfer process. Obtain lab tests as ordered and report abnormal result Complete nursing assessment of change in condition. Take and record TPR's, blood pressure, accuchecks etc. as necessary. Make daily rounds to ensure nursing personnel are performing required duties and ensure proper procedures are being followed. Must possess a current unencumbered license to practice as a LPN in the state of Illinois. Must possess a current CPR certificate or become within 2 weeks of employment.
