Registered Nurse (RN) Job Description
I. JOB SUMMARY Responsible to provide direct nursing care to the customer, and to supervise the day-to-day nursing activities performed by the nursing assistants. Such supervision must be in accordance with current Federal, State, and local standards, guidelines and regulations, facility policies. The objective is to ensure the highest degree of quality care is maintained at all times. II. QUALIFICATIONS A. Must possess a current, unencumbered license to practice as a RN or LPN in the State of Illinois and/or Wisconsin. B. Must possess current CPR certificate or become certified within two weeks of employment. C. Must be knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices and procedures. D. Demonstrates interest and/or knowledge in care of the aged. E. Must be able to read, write, and speak the English language in an understandable manner. F. Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action. G. Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with customers, family members, visitors, personnel, government agencies/personnel, and the general public. H. Must possess leadership and supervisory ability and willingness to work harmoniously with other personnel. I. Must be personable, enthusiastic, and resourceful. III. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS A. Must be able to move intermittently throughout the work day. B. Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position. C. Must possess sight/hearing senses, or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of this position can be fully met. D. Must function independently, have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with customers, family members, personnel, and support agencies. E. Must be in good general health and demonstrate emotional stability. F. Must be able to relate to and work with the ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and at times hostile people. G. May be required to lift, push, pull and move equipment, supplies, and customers in excess of fifty (50) pounds throughout the day.
