Caregiver Job Description
American Star Home is a 6-bed adult group home that supports and cares for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The direct care support will each assist 3 clients with activities of daily living, such as hygiene, grooming, toileting needs as well as dietary needs. Create an environment to implement behavior plans to redirect clients, as well as successfully complete their daily routines in their Individual Specialized Plan. They will also prepare daily meals and assist with household clean-up. Lastly, ensure that all daily logs and documentation is completed.

Qualifications:
Someone with experience working with wheelchair bound individuals with developmental disabilities (preferred not required)
High school Education or Equivalent
Must be able to lift 50 lbs
Familiar with Hoyer lift and G-tube feedings (training provided)
Some experience with Seizure Management (training provided)
Reliable transportation to and from work
Valid California Driver’s License
CPR & First Aid Certified (training provided)
Recent TB test
Undergo federal and state fingerprint background check
The clients attend day program Monday to Friday and do not need staff support mid day. We are looking for individuals that are available to work a broken work schedule - 6am-9am, then come back 3pm-9pm.
