DSP Position About the position: The Direct Support Professional (Direct Care) Staff shall be competent to provide the services necessary to meet individual resident needs. Responsible for providing supervision and support to adults residing at care home and for assisting them to meet goals described in their individual needs and services or individual program plans. Starts at $14 per hour; however, rate is negotiable with experience. About our agency: Residential Care Homes that provide care, supervision, and support to adults with intellectual disabilities. Clients may also have a mental health diagnosis and complex behavioral challenges. The program focuses on helping individuals work through their emotional and behavioral challenges, prevent relapse of excessive intensive cycle of behaviors, and learn skills that allow them to interact more successfully in the community and with others. Requirements: Hardworking, Self-directed Direct Support Professional skilled at behavior intervention, medication management, mobility assistance and documentation/charting. Highly flexible and willing to work all shifts. Empathetic, patient-focused caregiver with experience in residential setting. High School Diploma or equivalent; related post-secondary education a plus. Experience Required: Minimum of six months experience providing direct supervision and special services to persons with disabilities. Other Requirements: A valid CA driver's license in good standing with proof of current car insurance a bonus. CURRENT CPR/DSP certification preferred. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING: • General Housecleaning • Provide direct supervision and support for each client as determined by their individual service plan and behavioral plan. • Provide assistance to client in basic self-help skills (Bathing and some Incontinence), daily living skills, adaptive living skill areas, and implement training skill programs. • Maintain daily logs and data reports. • Prepare meals and snacks as indicated on weekly menus • Supervise and escort clients to medical and dental appointments, community outings, and other activities as assigned • Act as an appropriate role model for clients by dressing and behaving in a socially appropriate manner.
