DSP (Direct Support Professional)

In this role, you will provide essential support and care for two adult sisters with developmental disabilities, helping them achieve greater independence and quality of life. Your responsibilities will include assisting with daily living activities, ensuring the well-being of residents, and promoting their rights in a nurturing environment. Responsibilities Assist residents with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication management. Light housekeeping is needed to guide the residents to assure them a clean and healthy environment. Observe and document patient behavior and progress, ensuring adherence to HIPAA regulations. Provide companionship and emotional support to residents, fostering a positive living environment. Maintain cleanliness and organization within the living space to ensure a safe environment for all residents. Educate residents on their rights and advocate for their needs while respecting their dignity. Collaborate with healthcare professionals to implement individualized care plans effectively. Perform first aid as necessary and respond appropriately to emergencies. Engage residents in social activities that promote community involvement and personal development. Transport residents to events or to a park to enjoy the community. Experience Previous experience in caregiving or working with individuals with developmental disabilities is preferred. Knowledge of patient observation techniques and resident rights is essential. Familiarity with cooking nutritious meals suitable for various dietary needs is a plus. Experience in a nursing home or similar setting is advantageous but not required. Certification in CPR & First Aid is required, but can be obtained upon hiring.
