Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Job Description
Duties: Greet all visitors in friendly manner. Ambulate resident to dining room or to sit in chair for all meals. Encourage residents to walk if they are able to ambulate safely. Pass correct meal trays to residents and set up completely for each meal. Pass resident’s nourishment twice daily during morning shift. Once during evening shift Assist in hydration program. Monitor and encourage those in feeding program. Encourage independence. Perform active/passive range-of-motion daily during residents’ bath/shower. Assist residents with shower or bed bath daily. Ambulate residents to bathroom. Follow through on bowel and bladder program, toilet residents per schedule. Complete documentation appropriately. Observe and adhere to safety and infection control procedures. Soiled linen to be placed only in the soiled linen containers. Account for residents’ dentures, glasses, hearing aids, beginning and end of shift. Follow facility protocol personal / facility laundry. Transport residents to and from all activities daily. Ambulate whenever able. Always keep resident’s room neat and tidy daily. Keep resident’s closet organized, neat and tidy daily. Take vital signs within 5 minutes as ordered and/or requested. Organize and prioritize workload. Requirements: GED certification or high school diploma. Must be currently certified by the State of California for Long-Term Care Facilities as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) and Restorative Nursing Assistant (RNA) Current state certification in Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation. Ability to read, write and speak English fluently. Computer literacy in Windows and Web based programs including, but not limited to, all Microsoft Office programs. Working knowledge in the use of the Electronic Charting system.
