Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Job Description
Job Summary: Care associates are expected to show CARE AND COMPASSION to all residents. Care associates are responsible for providing personal assistance to residents with Activities of Daily Living such as bathing, dressing, toileting and/or assisting with food and beverage consumption. Care associates are Essential Functions: • Always show empathy and respect to all residents • Be considerate to your fellow care associates • Commit to making residents safe and comfortable • Implement daily routines so residents feel confidence and dignity • Demonstrate flexibility and patience with residents who have dementia • Recognize and understand symptoms of dementia • Maintain a positive working environment and encourage teamwork • Hands on assistance with bathing, dressing and grooming • Supervise and assist at meal time including light meal preparation • Provide assistance with wheelchairs, walkers or other mobility tools • Medication assistance following Company training • Perform regularly scheduled resident safety checks • Lead and participate in resident activity programs daily • Observe and document personal care services rendered • Report any observations to supervisors regarding changes in residents physical or mental health, behavior or needs • Perform light housekeeping and laundry • Must attend and participate in staff meetings and regularly-scheduled training programs • Participate in emergency planning drills and/or training • Other duties as may be assigned from time to time Knowledge, Skills and Experience: • Have a Desire to Change/Enhance Someone’s Life • Be patient and encouraging to residents and co-workers • Understanding and sensitivity to the older population’s needs • Have Strong observation skills • Must be 18 years of age • English language proficiency – reading and writing • Experience and/or training/certification in dementia/Alzheimer’s care • Ability to work schedules as assigned in 24-hour operation • Must be able to successfully complete: o TB skin test or chest X-ray o State fingerprint and FBI background check o Basic First Aid/CPR Must be COVID Vaccinated Physical Requirements: Care associates will be working in residential care facility and may be exposed to heating, air conditioning. Some activities with residents may occur outside and care associates may be exposed to weather conditions while outside with residents. All care associates must be able to frequently lift, carry, push/pull, grasp or hold, reach over shoulders and/or head, kneel, squat, sit, stand or bend. Care associates must be able to lift or carry, push or pull weights starting at 25 pounds or more.
