Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Job Description
JOB SUMMARY This position provides adult residents with assistance in their daily living. Nurse’s Assistants/Caregivers lend support to the Licensed Nurses in the medical necessities of all adult residents. Promotes resident well-being and satisfaction through support with ADL’s. Communicates with other departments to ensure resident needs are met. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Assist residents with cleanliness, grooming, and nourishment needs. Wash assisted living residents’ laundry as required. Monitor residents’ condition and report changes in attitude, appearance, behavior and/or physical ability to the Nurse in Charge or Director of Health Services. Ensure the Protect Pendant is within easy reach of residents for emergency purposes. Respond to all pendent alarms in a rapid timely manner. Record pertinent information regarding residents and specific assignments. Weekly, record the weight, blood pressure, and pulse of each resident. Maintain confidentiality of all pertinent resident care information to assure their rights are protected. Ensures that residents' rights to fair and equitable treatment, self-determination, individuality, privacy, property and civil rights including the right to wage a complaint, are well established and maintained at all times. Preserves the dignity and self-respect of the residents at all times. Monitor each new resident’s chart/health assessment/care plan to become familiar with their individual problems and needs. Assist with delivery of cycle medications for independents residents. Complete room tray orders when appropriate, deliver room trays to resident and pick up room tray from resident’s room after finishing their meal. Follow through daily tasks as listed on the caregiver assignment until completed. Safety and Sanitation Ensure that your assigned work area (i.e. nurses unit, med room, med pass room, etc) are maintained in a clean and sanitary manner. Wear and/or use safety equipment and supplies (eg, back brace, mechanical lifts, etc) when lifting or moving residents. Transport residents to and from medical appointments as required
