Home Care Aide (HCA) Job Description
Global Health Care Group is searching for professional CNA, GNA, CMT, and Home health Aides with experience to service our patients in their homes by maintaining their personal health and hygiene. Some duties may include shopping and preparing meals, light housekeeping, and reporting the patient's health status to our nurses. Hoyer lift experience is preferred but is not required. We are looking for dedicated individuals with reliable transportation as you will be caring for the patient's in their place of residence. Responsibilities Help patients get in and out of bed, bathe, dress, groom and eat. Help with simple prescribed exercise and assist with medication routines. Occasionally change non-sterile dressings use special equipment such as hydraulic lifts, give messages and alcohol rubs, or assist with braces and artificial limbs. Accompany patient outside the home, doctor’s appointments, etc. Keeps daily records of services performed report changes in patient’s condition to the Registered Nurse Supervisor Immediately. May perform any of the homemaker/companion services. Measure and administer oral medicines to patients. Report any changes in patient’s physical condition, check and record patient’s temperature, pulse and respiration assistance with Activities of Daily Living (ADL’s), which includes bathing, dressing and continence. Accompany patient to and from medical appointments and other activities and perform other related duties as required. Meet with the Registered Nurse Supervisor every 30 days to review the care of the patient and to make recommendations to improve the quality of care for the patient. Qualifications High School Diploma or GED. Work experience as a nursing assistant or other aide to persons who are elderly or abled. Effective spoken and written (English) communication skills, including the ability to follow spoken/written instructions and the ability to accurately record medical information and maintain related records. Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with elderly/disabled patients and their family members, co-workers and other medical professionals and the general public, with special sensitivity towards the needs and priorities of elderly individuals. Physical requirements include the ability to lift, move and assist patients as needed; assist patients into/out of vehicles; move/carry medical equipment or parcels; and perform other duties as listed above. Current certified nursing assistant (CNA) certification issued by the MD State Department of Nursing. Current Medicine Aide certificate issued by the MD State Board of Nursing
